COVID-19 Update 3/24/2020

March 26, 2020 by admin

Our office has been monitoring the evolving status of the COVID-19 virus.  This morning, Henderson County and Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity’s Board of Directors and leadership team met to discuss our response to this virus.

These measures that our leadership is taking are based on guidance from Habitat for Humanity International and local, state and national public health authorities. As such, we have developed an Emergency Response plan that we can follow as we continually monitor the situation.

Therefore, we have made the decision that effective today, March 23,2020, Henderson County Habitat for Humanity and Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity will take the following actions:

  • Close or postpone ALL volunteer opportunities
  • All employees are working remotely or with minimal contact with one another.  The office and warehouse will be closed to the public and volunteers.
  • Cancel all meetings internally and externally
  • Close the ReStore to the public and volunteers
  • ReStore Home pickups are currently suspended
  • Offer all group builds the opportunity to postpone to later dates

We will reopen our jobsites and other volunteer opportunities when the situation improves.  Like many other organizations, we have implemented these changes for the safety of our families, volunteers, staff   and community members and as recommended by Habitat for Humanity and following the guidance of the US, state and local governments.

We want you to know that the health and safety of you, our volunteers, is our top priority.

We recognize these measures may be disruptive to your plans, but given our local conditions, this action is prudent. If you have any questions, please contactAnnette Roter, Director of Operations

Please know that we are constantly monitoring the situation and will update our plans as new details emerge and we will communicate accordingly. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this public health crisis together.
